A Push for Parity

University project – Campaign & App Design

Created in response to a university brief, this conceptual campaign addresses gender disparity in the music industry. The project combines a bold poster series with a proposed app designed to help users discover women in music based on their personal listening preferences. The visual identity uses assertive typography and high-contrast layouts to challenge industry norms and amplify underrepresented voices. The app — showcased in the accompanying video — aims to extend the campaign’s reach by offering curated artist recommendations, tailored playlists, and event listings aligned with each user’s tastes.

The accompanying application, Musiquall, offered a solution by encouraging gender-balanced listening habits amongst streaming site users by creating personalised playlists based on the user’s favourite artists.

The user is able to research the artist via a short bio page and through samples of popular songs.

Customisation of the number of songs is included in the settings, alongside the gender ratio, which ranges from 50:50 to 100:0 in favour of female inclusive acts. The playlist is then exported to the desired streaming site.
